UPVc Lock Mechanisms

UPVc doors usually have a door locking mechanism which locks in several places when you lift the handle. Then there is also a barrel for the door lock which the key goes in to turn it to lock the door.

If you have such a door which is causing you problems – please give me a phone call, and we can discuss the options and I can come out and have a look. In the majority of instances I can fix the issue. A company which sells doors might suggest you need a totally new door however, it is rarely that serious, and frequently I can fix the issue ensuring the door works like new. This will be less costly than a new door.

A multipoint door lock offers more security than some other options, but that is only true if the lock meets the police approved standards for the barrel. One such lock which we fit a lot is the Ultion door lock. These cannot be snapped open easily. Many UPVc doors are supplied with much weaker locking mechanisms than we would not recommend. Some of these can be defeated in as little as 8 seconds. Please see the video.

If you have problems with your door we can perform a variety of checks to focus in on the possible fixes.
